Get an upgrade

All computer users know that you must constantly upgrade your software as technology is changing so fast. And what about all these technological wonders the Walkman, Super 8 and Boom Boxes. It seems like yesterday when l was getting my first VCR. Now l have a whole room full VHS tapes l do not know whether to keep them or throw them away. Companies are producing new, faster and more efficient technologies everyday, constantly improving and upgrading products and software.

Amazingly, if we are not constantly upgrading our systems they become obsolete. Just as technology changes, so do people’s minds. Failure to upgrade your software, the machine system slows down and begins to have challenges interacting with new and up to date devices. The same can be said of our minds. If you are not constantly upgrading yourself by the renewal of your mind, through studying, reading and developing your talents; adding to them necessary skills then guaranteed that you are in the same place you were last year and yes you are slowly becoming OBSOLETE!

 

Spartan

King Leonidus of Sparta was famous for his skills in war. His soldiers were skilled in the craft of war and they were legendary.  So skilled were his soldiers that on one occasion, one of his neighbouring Kingdoms asked him for help when facing a ruthless enemy. In reply, he sent 1 Spartan soldier. When asked why he sent one soldier instead of an entire army, he replied – That one soldier is more of an army than all the soldiers in your ranks. That soldier must have had some  amazing skills in order to carry that huge responsibility.

As we develop skillfulness and allow ourselves to be trained, we become invaluable, an asset to our families, community, our country and the world.

 

Ideas

In the Hollywood movie Inception by Christopher, the villains are not the guys who go around killing everybody with machine guns or nuclear weapons. Neither are they the guys who go around scaring people. The real villains are the characters who are able  to plant an idea,  a seed of thought in your mind and allow you to take ownership of that idea and thereby change you forever.

In today’s world, life moves fast. Advertisers are finding clever ways of selling their products. The media continues to develop tactics and schemes that are changing the way we perceive morality and immorality, good and bad. Never before in history have we seen such a battle, the battle for our minds. Executives, companies, and agencies invest billions of dollars in order to possess some space in our minds: our memories, our emotive experiences, our choices. We need to be constantly aware of the ideas that are being planted in our minds every minute of our existence. What value do you place on your time, mind and life? Are you governing your mind or is it there for the taking?

 

3 Ways To Influence Your World

1. Speak the Truth

One word of truth outweighs the world. Uphold the moral code of God.

2. Be exemplary

Truth can be argued but it is more powerful when lived and exemplified.Truth lived is worth more than a thousand words preached. Live an exemplary life

3. Group Solidarity

There is power in numbers. Even Jesus had 12 disciples and within 50 years of his death, those disciples had already changed the world.

When we uphold the truth, live according to principles and stand with others with the same conviction, we will be the salt and light of the earth. The world will stop, hear and change their ways. We will start to become a voice and not an echo.

 

Truth in the hands of a Reformer

One word of truth outweighs the world.

There is a darkness and evil that seems to be creeping into the world as humanism and materialism begins to be exposed. The world now anxiously awaits reformers, men and women of action. A reformation has the ability to purify the world. Governments, corporates and individuals are seeking answers. As sons of God , we need to take advantage and speak truth into the situation.

Truth is more powerful than tanks, bombs and nuclear ammunition because it changes lives, builds families, build lives and brings reformation to anyone who will embrace it. Truth alone is the solid foundation. God’s truth is more powerful than words of any man, gods or spirit and many Christians live as if the truth of God is void and powerless. This leads many to slide into passivity as they are blinded by the world. Are you living according to God’s the truth?

The Arab Spring

Saturday 18 October will forever be etched in the hearts of many Africans. A wave of uprisings swept Tunisia. What started of as an isolated incident in Tunisia became a watershed moment for 11 countries in the northern parts of the continent.

What sparked these demonstrations are the same things that are written in history books – the selfish abuse of power by the few at the expense of the powerless majority. While they were revolutions seeking to bring about much needed change and redress the situation, l am pondering on whether these uprisings were merely history repeating itself or they are a sign of a continent on the brink of a renaissance.
